Worlds BJJ 2011 June 2nd to 5th

RTBJJA worlds BJJ 2011 Mundalis BJJ

RTBJJA went to Worlds last week and had a great time. We had 13 competitors and every one represented very well. Abe Estacio submitted his first 3 opponents and lost by an advantage his 4th match.  He didn’t have the opportunity to fight for the medal.

Melissa Bentley competed and had a great 1st match. She started the 2nd match with a nice take down and was winning.  Melissa did a little mistake and cost the the fight.  Another great competitor was Suraj Budram.  He dominated his opponent and brought a great win to RTBJJA.

On the purple belt:  Daniel Barrett did 100% but lost by a pan american 2011 Champion; Clayton Robinson and Omar French both had great matches, but did not get a chance to fight for medals.

Sebastian Ortiz from Marcelo’s school in Orlando did a great event and pulled a Bronze Medal on the White Belt Division.

On the Black Belt division Renato Tavares, Marcelo Menezes and Piet Wilhelm had good matches, but didn’t have the opportunity to fight for medals.

Everyone had a great time and learned a lot from this tournament and for sure the RTBJJA Team is going to come back strong for 2012.
