Seminar: Cleveland Mixed Martial Arts Academy of Cleveland, TN April 30, 2011

 

Cleveland MMA Academy in Cleveland, Tenn The Cleveland Mixed Martial Arts Academy of Cleveland, Tennessee, hosted Professor Renato Tavares at a jiu-jitsu seminar on April 30, 2011, at the academy. Professor Tavares is a fourth degree black belt in Brazilian Jiu-jitsu. His academy is located at Vero Beach, Florida. He is known for his association with and coaching of American Top Team members and he is a internationally known competitor in Brazilian Jiu-jitsu. Also attending the seminar from Professor’s Tavares’ association was Piet Wilhelm of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Piet Wilhelm is also a member of Professor’s Tavares’ association and is the owner of the Triton Training Center in Broken Arrow. About thirty-five persons attended the seminar which consisted of about two hours of technical training followed by a questions and answer session. That was followed by open sparring amongst the attendees.

After the seminar was over, there was a short talk by Professor Tavares about training methods, attitude and the “jiu-jitsu lifestyle”. Afterwards, Tommy Wales, the head instructor at Cleveland Mixed Martial Arts Academy, was promoted to first degree black belt and Joe Hoffer was promoted to black belt. The seminar was followed by a photography session and a banquet at a local restaurant.
